February – WMO NEWS
The Women’s Missionary Organization is pleased to announce the February 18th meeting. Our special guest speaker will be Marilyn Jensen, Director of Development, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity. This program promises to be one of great interest, and we urge everyone to make plans to attend. Brunch will be served at 9:30 a.m.
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based, non-profit organization that focuses on safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income families in Lucas County. MVHFH builds new and rehabs older homes for sale to qualifying families with a 0% interest loan. MVHFH has built or rehabbed over 150 homes in the area. The primary goal of the Home Repair Ministry program is to keep low-income homeowners in safe housing. Volunteers and staff of MVHFH are unwilling to ignore the fact that many county residents live without decent or adequate shelter. Through Christian ministry, MVHFH challenges all people of conscience to join in partnership with those in need to change their living conditions.
Marilyn Jensen has over 30 years of non-profit resource development experience in the Toledo area, both as a volunteer and as a paid professional. Men, teenagers, neighbors, and friends will enjoy hearing this vivacious lady speak of a subject about which most of us have only limited knowledge. Mark your calendar to attend the WMO meeting on Saturday, February 18th at 9:30 a.m. You’ll be glad you did!
January – WMO NEWS
The Women’s Missionary Organization will meet on Saturday, January 21st, at 9:30 a.m. Brunch will be served for a nominal cost ($3.00), after which a film, “Rediscovering
God in America,” will be shown. From the National Archives to Arlington National Cemet
ery, this film illustrates the importance of our Creator to our nation’s founders and their successors.
Based on the New York Times bestseller, Rediscovering God in America reminds us all that America is indeed “One Nation Under God.”
Sean Hannity is quoted as saying, “Rediscovering God in America has personally deepened my own faith.”
Everyone is invited to join us to view a truly inspirational film which bears testimony to the “faith of our (country’s) fathers.” Make your reservations by calling the church office, 419-865-9171.
White Cross Update
The recipient for this year’s White Cross mission project is the Thistledown Racetrack Ministry. The generosity of the First Baptist Women’s Missionary Organization has shone brightly. Nine boxes were filled with love and needed items for the people who live and work at the racetrack. The estimated dollar amount of these gifts is $855.00. Each individual gift may not have seemed like much to the donor, but when added together the total is amazing! What better way to glorify God than to give. The boxes were hand delivered to the Rev. Vincent Harris, pastor for the Racetrack Ministry.
We still have fourteen boxes of goods left over from the recent rummage sale to be delivered. Using the Salvation Army’s measure of $2.00 per item for gently used clothing, these gifts amount to $556.00. When added to the previously mentioned articles, the total donation amounts to $1,411.00. While this is only one of our missionary projects, I’m sure God is thinking, “Well done, thou good and faithful servants.” (Matthew 26:21)
Thank you for your generosity.
