As we continue in the season of Lent, we are already preparing for Holy Week services at First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo. Each of our Holy Week services reflect a distinct aspect of God’s salvific work in Jesus Christ our Lord.
We will be celebrating each worship service live and in person at First Baptist Church. But we will also be streaming the services on Facebook Live for those who are either out of town or due to COVID are unable to be present in our Church building. While the video presentations provide an unique opportunity to share the word of God across the fruited plain, they also change the perspective and often the nature of the worship service itself. We are doing our best to maintain the intimacy and intent of our worship services even while translating them into the video age.
Holy Week begins with our Palm Sunday worship service, March 28th at 10:00 am.
It continues with our Maundy Thursday service, April 1st at 7:00 pm, which this year will be celebrated with a modified Tenebrae Service. While we cannot dim the lights as we would in years past, we will reflect the nature of death’s shadow encroaching on the work of God in Jesus Christ. The darkness is indeed powerful, but on Easter Sunday we will proclaim that the light of God’s love and life is strong enough to save.
Easter Sunday will be a joyous day of celebration as the Church will gather for the first time in two years to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Join us at our 10:00 am Easter Sunday service and celebrate New Life in Jesus Christ as the people of God shout “He is risen! He is risen Indeed!”
