“To be silent does not mean to be inactive; rather it means to breathe in the will of God, to listen attentively and be ready to obey.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Meditating on the Word

Through the season of Lent, First Baptist Church wants to give you an opportunity to listen attentively to the word of God and prepare our lives for obedience. On every Wednesday through the season of Lent, beginning on March 12, we will gather around a simple meal prepared by one of our members and discuss our Lenten devotional “God Is On The Cross” Reflections on Lent and Easter, based on the writings of the great German pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

We invite you to join us for a nice meal with good friends as we take a moment each week to breathe in the will of God in a time of personal and corporate study and prayer.  The book is intended to be read as a daily devotional beginning on March 5 (Ash Wednesday) and extending to Easter Sunday.  While it is not mandatory that you buy and read the book, it is recommended for your spiritual growth and edification.  The book can be ordered through Amazon for $10.49 with the kindle version costing even less.  We have purchased several copies which are available at the Church for $10.

Let us know if you can attend and sign up to help with a meal if you want to bless us with your culinary skills.

May God grow in us in this sacred season.

Pastor Dan
